Practical information
 

The Ardèche is a class II river, meaning that it is without any major difficulties, but the following safety information should be respected so that your trip goes off without a hitch.

  • Participants should know how to swim and be over the age of seven.
  • Never remove your lifejacket, which must be attached to the canoe / kayak.
  • Respect the nature reserve
  • Bring your rubbish back to the start-off point.
  • Rough camping is banned. Camping is only authorised in the pay-to-stay bivouac areas (Gaud and Gournier).
  • Access to boats is banned after 6pm in the Ardèche Gorges Nature Reserve.
  • The following are also prohibited: parking outside of the authorised areas between 8pm and 6am and sailing at night.

Two-day descent
 

Bateaux du Pont offers two routes each lasting two days :

 
  • 32km: Salavas (Pont d’Arc Valley).
    A two-day trip including a night spent at the Gaud Bivouac Area (1/3 of the distance) or the Gournier Bivouac Area (1/2 of the distance).
    The bivouac areas are equipped with communal barbecues and charcoal for your meals, tables, wash blocks (showers and toilets), drinking water and a first-aid post.

For both these routes, you need to arrive at the base at 10am with departure from Saint-Martin d'Ardèche scheduled for 10.30/11am.

The routes end at Sauze (2km away from Saint-Martin) where a driver will wait for you from 4pm and will immediately take you back to your vehicle.

For the two-day trip bring :

 
  • A small tent
  • Sleeping bag
  • Your three meals + breakfast + drinks
  • A cap
  • Sun cream
  • Closed water shoes
  • Depending on the season, warm clothes and a change of clothes.

PLEASE BE AWARE !!!!
Since summer 2000, a prefectural regulation has limited the number of spaces available at the bivouac areas.
This affects all the weekends from May to September and bank holidays (known as peak nights).
You must reserve your places as soon as possible by contacting the central reservations office (two months before your trip, as soon as the office opens for the season).

If the bivouac areas are full, please contact us and we will offer you an alternative accommodation solution.
