The Bivouacs in the Ardèche Gorges

The Ardèche Gorges are a Natural Reserve managed by a Management Syndicate that defines regulations on circulation and behavior within the Reserve’s perimeter.
Bivouacking is therefore regulated and can only be done in designated areas.

If you choose to do a 2-day descent in the Ardèche Gorges Natural Reserve, it is mandatory to spend the night in one of the two authorized bivouac areas.

Bivouac de Gaud

The Gaud bivouac,
located one-third of the way through the route. 250 places.

Bivouac de Gournier

The Gournier bivouac,
located mid-route. 250 places.

Equipment

  • Sanitary facilities, toilets, showers, drinking water.

  • 2 marabouts each (= military tents with a capacity of 20 places each). These military tents have neither beds nor mattresses, only a floor on the ground…

  • Tables, collective barbecues (charcoal provided).

  • First aid post.

Reservation of your bivouac

Reservations for your bivouac for your canoe descent in the Ardèche Gorges over 2 days must be made by the participants or a member of the group.

You must book your bivouac tickets directly with the Ardèche Gorges Tourist Office.
